About & Operator Info
Who makes Ashtanga Shala, why, on what basis — plus how it is funded and how to reach us.
Ashtanga Shala is a self-practice guide to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga that needs no sign-up and no install. It gathers the complete Primary, Intermediate, and Advanced series in one place: entry steps, common mistakes, breath counts, drishti (gaze points), beginner modifications, and a breath-counting practice mode.
Why this site exists
Because Ashtanga repeats the same sequence every time, it is one of the few yoga systems suited to self-practice — yet the sequence, breath counts, and gaze points are scattered across many sources. This site's goal is to fit a day's practice onto one screen.
It supports ten languages and remembers your progress per pose, with an automatic breath timer for practice.
Who runs it
It is a personal site planned, built, and operated by one individual, with no affiliation to any studio, association, or company. Beyond advertising, users are never charged, and no paid classes or products are brokered.
Content basis and updates
Sequence order, breath counts, and drishti follow the conventions of the Ashtanga Mysore tradition descending from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. All text, illustrations, photos, and videos are original work.
If you spot an error, please tell us through the 1:1 contact button — confirmed corrections are applied promptly.
Safety note
This site does not replace the direct guidance of a qualified teacher. Intermediate poses and beyond should always be learned with one.
